Artisan Quarter

To link The Bowes Museum with the town and the Bank, the Vision is developing plans for an Artisan Bazaar offering: a mix of retail, studio and office space aimed at artisans and antique dealers; a central exhibition/display space; and a clearly identified ‘artisan community’ so that people/organisations looking for particular types of work or worker know where to find them.

We are currently working with Andy Christian who established the Lakeland Guild of Crafts and the Devon Guild to gauge demand and determine the feasibility of establishing a guild and studios for artists in Barnard Castle.
