Shop Local
Encouraging residents to 'shop local' is vital to the retailers in Barnard Castle and throughout Teesdale.
In 2009, Barney Guild joined forces with the Teesdale Mercury to launch a Shop Local campaign, with sponsorship provided by One NorthEast. The campaigns continues apace, and as well as creating regular promotions aimed at highlighting the retail choices available in Barnard Castle, Barney Guild is also investigating introducing a loyalty card scheme to the town.
The Barnard Castle Farmers Market
FARMA-accredited markets are held on the first Saturday of every month, from 10am until 3pm in the historic centre of Barnard Castle. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a wide range of fresh, locally produced food, and you will have the choice of a number of organic growers. The Farmers' Market was a Gold Award Winner at the Taste of North East England Awards 2006.
