  • Whilst walking in Europe we have been impressed by the excellent refreshment facilities for walkers and well way-marked routes to follow. Teesdale could learn from this example and increase visitors to the area.

The Barnard Castle Farmers Market
FARMA-accredited markets are held on the first Saturday of every month, from 10am until 3pm in the historic centre of Barnard Castle. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase a wide range of fresh, locally produced food. Organic growers are well represented.  Taste of North East England Gold Award winner 2006.

Distinctive Retailers
The Enterprise Agency is working closely with Teesdale Marketing and the Vision to support the Retail Distinctiveness Project. The project is seeking to empower retailers to take a more collaborative approach to trading, to recognise the uniqueness of Barnard Castle and ensure as retailers they maximise the benefits.

After early discussions with a number of retailers a first meeting was held on 16th June to look at issues and opportunities for the retailers and to have a positive discussion as to how they can engage with the Vision process.  The ultimate aim is to encourage retailers to work together, share best practices and look at new ways to achieve a healthy trading environment. We need your thoughts, if you want to be involved and have not been contacted by Sue Ellwood let us know, the more the merrier.

You can contact Sue on e-mail suee@theenterpriseagency.co.uk or on 07789 266491.
