Crafts & Applied Arts

The Vision is supporting The Bowes Museum's ongoing capital projects to provide better visitor facilities, new galleries and more curator, restorer, and conference space. The Heritage Lottery Fund has recently confirmed an investment of £3.3 million.  The Museum is also undertaking an options analysis of the grounds.

The Vision is assessing the feasibility of restoring the greenhouses behind the Museum and building a Craft College - a purpose-built internationally significant facility to train top quality craftspeople in skills including: stone-masonry, furniture making, architectural restoration, textiles, lead-work, joinery, oak building construction, and field crafts (stone walls, gates, hurdles, wrought iron).
