Teesdale Partnership

The Teesdale Partnership was established in July 2001 to bring together individuals, groups and organisations from the private, public, community and voluntary sectors with a view to highlighting and prioritising local needs, to ensure local services support one another and work more closely and effectively.   The Teesdale Partnership is a 'Local Strategic Partnership' or LSP.

What is a Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)

A Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) is a single body that:

  • Brings together at a local level the different parts of the public sector as well as the private, business, community and voluntary sectors so that different initiatives and services support each other and work together;
  • Is a non-statutory, non-executive organisation;
  • Operates at a level which enables strategic decisions to be taken and is close enough to individual neighbourhoods to allow action to be determined at community level.

Core tasks for the Local Strategic Partnership

  • Prepare and implement a Sustainable Community Strategy for the area
  • Bring together local plans, partnerships and initiatives

The Structure of Teesdale Partnership

  • Teesdale Partnership is steered by a Board whose membership includes the key delivery organisations in Teesdale as well as community members; it meets 4 times a year
  • The Partnership has a Management Team that includes the Chairs of each of the Thematic Groups; it meets monthly
  • Teesdale Partnership has eight Thematic Groups which represent different areas of interest within the local community.  Four of these groups are jointly represented with Wear Valley LSP.
  • The Lead Officers from each of the Thematic Groups meet monthly.  This forum allows the officers the opportunity to discuss the progress of their groups in detail and identify cross-cutting issues.

The eight Thematic Groups are:

Community Safety (Joint group)
Dales Local Childrens Board (Joint group)
Economy & Tourism
Environment (Joint group)
Environment Sub Group: Transport (Joint group)
Health  (Joint group)
Housing
Leisure and Culture
Lifelong Learning

Teesdale Partnership is governed by their Partnership Agreement.
