1. ContractsThe streetscape, transport and sites appraisal studies are underway. Inception meetings took place on 15 January. Interim findings will be presented on 15 February.
2. Broadband
DurhamNet is undertaking a costed survey for the delivery of next generation broadband in Teesdale and Wear Valley and public WiFi in Barnard Castle.
3. Retail network
The Enterprise Agency for Teesdale and Wear Valley has presented proposals for retail distinctiveness training and support for local businesses
4. Specialist Support Team
The Vision is recruiting additional support for project management, research and fundraising.
5. Single Programme 2008/9
A stage 1 application for funding from Single Programme in 2008/9 has been submitted.
6. Vision Information Point
The concept designs have been amended following an initial meeting with planning officers. A planning application is being prepared. Content is being collated (Vision notices, tourism information, retail advertising, radio broadcasts/podcsts, photographic exhibition, what's on guide, links to Teesdale Mercury and Radio Teesdale)
7. Communications
Clippings of recent press coverage were circulated. The Vision brochure has been distributed to local businesses. The Vision is sponsoring the Barnard Castle Meet.
8. Company registration
The Barnard Castle Vision is applying to register as a Community Interest Company to facilitate applications for funding from the private sector and charitable trusts and foundations.
