Cotherstone Top Ten Village 

Cotherstone featured on Channel 5’s ‘Property List’ show that announced the top-ten villages in the UK. The village was featured amongst others such as Chalfont St Giles in Buckinghamshire, Bourton-on-the Water in the Cotswolds and Livswen in Wales. Cotherstone was placed at number 8 in the top-ten because of its rural location, excellent school and local services including a village shop/post office and two pubs. In selecting the finalists, criteria such as crime rates, schools, climate and transport links have all been taken into consideration.

Barnard Castle also made a brief appearance as the historic market town offering a wide-range of services just 4 miles from the village.  Deborah Jenkins, chair of the Vision partnership board commented, “It is good to see that the area is attracting national attention as a great place to live and work. The work of the Vision partnership is aiming to further develop and extend services in the market town; increase job opportunities and encourage local businesses to invest in the area. This positive PR helps to get the message out far and wide”.
