About The Witham Redevelopment Team:
Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios has an international reputation for design quality, environmental expertise and architectural innovation. Its Creative Re-use Team combines specialist conservation skills with design flair to provide an innovative approach to existing buildings. The team comprises individuals with specific conservation training and high levels of experience in a broad range of historic building projects, including conservative repair, creative re-use and new work in historically sensitive contexts.
FCBS has been the architect for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park since 1988, designing the Underground Gallery, and a new visitor centre that incorporates meeting rooms, education spaces and a 120-seat auditorium. It has also been involved in a Feildbarn project in the Yorkshire Dales demonstrating revolutionary (and invisible) rural regeneration, providing innovative reuse for thousands of redundant field barns by inserting a free-standing eco-pod inside the existing structure, providing holiday accommodation (and in turn a source of income), and demonstrating that re-using and renovating places is possibly the most sustainable approach of all.
Recently FCBS has completed a number of projects in the North of England, including a new-build, highly-sustainable monastery, Stanbrook Abbey, and a new academic complex for Leeds Metropolitan University.

Billinghurst George and Partners, Stockton is the largest independent Civil and Structural engineering consultancy in the Tees Valley. It has a reputation for designing quality, economic, sustainable buildings working closely with the architects to develop and deliver their envisaged concepts. Led by Partner, Ian Walker, they will bring vast experience of working not only on listed buildings, but also working within restricted sites adjacent to the general public.
BGP has recently been involved with the refurbishment work at The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, specifically strengthening floors to enable the ‘glass cube’ to be supported as a new display space in the Textiles and Dress gallery, and strengthening various elements of the roof space for the introduction of further storage and library space.
It has also completed the design of the new Shaw Bank Youth Hub project in Barnard Castle which is currently at tender stage. This project, with both indoor and outdoor facilities, will provide dance studios, performing and recording studios, and dining and kitchen areas as well as overnight accommodation. Externally there is a water sports lake, mountain bike trail and sports pitches. The facility is designed to make minimum impact on the surrounding area, and so is set into the terrain making best use of the natural topography.
