'Shopjacket' brings a new look to Barnard Castle

27/05/2010

One of Barnard Castle’s empty shops has been transformed with the town’s first ‘shopjacket’!

Harmoni on Horse Market, which has remained vacant in recent months, has been transformed from an empty shop into an artisan baker’s shop.  As part of a series of measures to revitalise Barnard Castle’s retail centre, Barnard Castle Vision has had the shopjacket installed to both improve the appearance of the vacant shop, and encourage potential investors.

Annalisa Ward, of Barnard Castle Vision, said: “By giving the shop a totally new appearance we are making Barnard Castle’s central retail area more appealing and interesting.  Most importantly we’re also aiming to encourage more inward investment into the town.  By showing how the shop might look as a functioning baker’s, we will encourage retailers to see the potential for their own business in this town.”

Barnard Castle Vision is working in partnership with letting agent Paul Murphy on this project.  Shopjackets have appeared in recent months in other North East locations including Whitley Bay.  They can be installed in a day, quickly transforming the appearance of the premises.

Anyone interested in the premises can contact Paul Murphy on 07984 302525.
