- I would like to see an M&S food hall (like the one in Morpeth) as that will attract shoppers. I'd also like to see an all-weather family social facility e.g. bowling or a truly child -focussed restaurant with activities.

Vision Project win Market Town Awards

Action for Market Towns AwardsBarnard Castle Vision has been successful in the 2011 Action for Market Towns Awards. The Action for Market Towns National Awards are open to towns throughout England and are a chance to showcase economic regeneration project and to inspire other towns.
We are delighted to announce that Barnard Castle Vision has been successful in winning two of the categories and has been commended in another category, as follows:
-Digital Dale - Winner for Strategic & Partnership Working
-NeST - Winner Business & Economy category
-Shop Front Scheme - Commended for Vibrant in the Environment and Culture category
The entries competed against other projects in the North Zone (covering the North East, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside) which was a much larger area than in previous years. All Northern Zone category winners will compete to be the overall winner for the Northern Zone. Each Zone category winner will then compete to become the National Winner presented at the Action for Market Towns Annual Convention in October 2011.
